Insulating Your Home During Winter – 3 Tips To Do It Right

When wintertime starts to roll around one of the last things that we think about when it comes to our homes is probably insulation. But, making sure that you’re properly insulating your home during winter is really important. We think about all of the amazing dishes we’ll get to make and eat in our kitchens, spending time with family and friends inside of your favorite room in the house, and decorating the house to bring in the holiday spirit.

But, taking the time to make sure that our homes are properly insulation can help us to make all of these moments so much more enjoyable. Properly insulating your home can help to keep each room warm and cozy and eliminate possibly high repair bills along the way.

Today, we wanted to share three of our top tips for properly insulating your home during the winter. And, if you’d like to discuss with someone from our team about how we can help you implement each of these tips in your home, click here to get in touch with us.

Tip #1: Seal Your Doorways

When it comes to our doors, we think that once they’re closed, then the cold air is kept out. But, that’s not the case. Cold air can still slowly still make its way into your home due to poor insulation around your doors which can cause your home to be colder and your heater to work harder than it has too. You want to make sure that your home has doors that are properly fitted and that they have the right insulation stopping the cold air from getting in.

Tip #2: Seal Your Windows

Much like your doors, your windows don’t necessarily just keep the wind and cold air out because they’re closed. Windows are really tricky because how often do you really stand next to your windows to see if cold air is coming in, right? So, to make sure that your windows aren’t causing you any issues we recommend going around your home, yes the entire home, and see which ones are not insulated correctly. When we work with our clients on their windows we check for insulation issues and make sure that you have the right windows for your home that will work for you during the winter and summer months.

Tip #3: Stay Up-To-Date with Your HVAC Maintenance

Yes, HVAC Maintenance plays a huge part in properly insulating your home. Your HVAC system works hard to keep your home warm in the winter, and cool in the summer, and you want to make sure that you’re keeping up-to-date with maintenance so that your system is working to the best of its ability. Things, like changing your filters, fixing leaks, and making sure all ducts are clean, can not only increase the lifespan of your system but ensure that it’s performing properly.
