Questions Answers

innovative building & Design Frequently asked question

Do I need to be home for the adjuster appointment?

Although it is up to you as to whether or not you are home for the adjuster appointment, we do ask that you make sure to have your Innovative Building Representative present. Having your representative present to meet the adjuster will ensure that someone experienced and knowledgeable is making sure you are represented and receive a fair adjustment.

Do I need to get a permit for the roofing or siding job?

No. A Innovative Building representative will get all appropriate permits needed and post them at the home or site before the job begins.

How long after the storm date can I make a claim?

It really depends on your specific insurance policy, but can range from 6 months to 2 years.

How long will it take to re-roof my house?

Typically, re-roofing most residential homes will take one day to complete. In order to minimize the inconvenience of construction on our homeowners, we have streamlined the roofing installation processes, hire only the best, and send as many crew members as needed to maintain the highest quality end product within that time.

How long will it take to re-side my house?

Siding projects will typically take around 2-3 days to complete for most homes. One day for tear-off and two for installation.

If I have a question or concern during the build, whom should I talk to?

As with any business, we have set communication channels to handle things that come up during a build. The appropriate contact for the homeowner is the Service Representative handling the file. If the Service Representative cannot be reached, please call our main office at 612-808-6025

Is there anything I need to do before the build?

Yes, sit back and relax you’re in good hands. Other than that, we ask that you move things like patio furniture, lawn ornaments, etc. away from the house and path of the crew.

Should I report minor damage to my Insurance Company?

As with any insurance related claim, that is totally up to you (the homeowner/policyholder). As with all storm restoration situations, our job is to simply share with you the extent of damage found, if any, during inspection, educate you on your rights and the restoration process, and enable you to make the decision on your own.

What about clean up, is there anything I'll have to do?

All clean up is taken care of at the end of each workday. Truck trailers are brought in for debris removal and hauled away each day, so you will never have a gigantic metal bin sitting in your driveway for days or weeks on end. Our crews do the best they can, to leave the jobsite as it was when they arrived, other than the new roof, siding, etc.

What all is replaced on the roof?

The roof is stripped down to the decking and all vents, valleys, plumbing jacks, felt, etc. are replaced new, or as outlined in the scope of work.

What phone number do I call for the Insurance Claims Department?

We’ve provided a list of contact information for the many of the homeowner’s insurance companies on the File A Claim page for your convenience.

When will the materials be dropped off?

A Innovative Building representative will contact you with the day that the materials are to be delivered. In most cases materials will be delivered to the home or job site one day prior to the build. The only time materials are left longer that one night is if they are delivered on a Friday for a Monday build, or the job is delayed due to rain or other unforeseen conditions.

Where will the materials be dropped off?

Our delivery drivers are professionals and try to find the best location in the driveway or at the home that will cause the least amount of inconvenience to our customers. If you have any specific instructions on where or where not to place the materials please contact your representative or call the office.

Who calls the Insurance Company for Storm Restoration claims?

The homeowner named on the insurance policy must report the claim to the insurance company.

Will you clean out my gutters while you're up there; I've been meaning to do it?

If it was that easy and small of a task we would, but it usually is not. We are in the roofing & gutter replacement business, not the gutter cleaning business. However, the crew will clean out any debris from the build, and we can give you a referral for the gutter clean-out.
